In 2024 we will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the first XP Software Conference held in Cagliari on the island of Sardinia in Italy.
XP2024 will feature a special “Anniversary Track” dedicated to celebrating and providing a retrospective of past XP Conferences, as well as looking forward to the next 25 years.

Change and new ways of working, will be driven by a diverse and global community of users, developers, and academics. To deliver innovations and value, software professionals continuously evolve their approaches. Yesterday’s research and experimentation leads to a new normal today – which drives a need for professionals to refresh their skills and experience base. What have we learned over the past 25 years – and where will the future lead the software research and practitioner communities? Will AI or other emergent technologies be a nemesis or nirvana? Walk-in attendees are welcome. Interested attendees may submit an optional one-page position paper (to sdfraser at acm dot org). Position papers might explain personal experiences (positive or negative) with software production from either a practitioner or researcher perspective.

Papers and essays relevant to the 25th-anniversary celebrations will also be considered. Papers might assess the impact of Agile over the past 25 years, review content from previous XP Conferences, or anticipate the future evolution of Agile.
An anniversary essay may be an exploration of an agile-related topic and its impact, it may present a personal view of agile concepts, it may be a philosophical digression, or it may be a deep analysis. Alternatively, an essay may describe a personal journey that an author took to reach an understanding of the topic.
