Agile Alliance’s 2023 year-in-review

Agile Alliance 2023 Year in Review

2023 was another exciting and eventful year for Agile Alliance. Let’s take a closer look at some key highlights and milestones from this past year.

In-person conferences

Agile2023 in Orlando, Florida & The Scotland Experience

As we reflect on the year gone by, it’s with immense pride and gratitude that we look back at Agile2023, Agile Alliance’s flagship annual conference. Held from July 24-28 in Orlando, Florida, Agile2023 was not just an event but a celebration of Agile values and principles. This year, we raised the bar by creating an even more enriching space for ideas, learning, and collaboration among Agile enthusiasts worldwide.

We were thrilled to see the passion and enthusiasm of Agile practitioners who joined us from different corners of the globe. The conference was abuzz with groundbreaking ideas, state-of-the-art strategies, and inspiring stories from some of the world’s most influential Agile experts, change agents, and innovators.

For those who couldn’t attend in person or wish to revisit the sessions, we’ve collected a wealth of resources from the conference, including recorded session videos and presentation files. For more information, see the Agile2023 event page.

The Scotland Experience

Adding a new chapter to our Agile journey, we hosted, for the first time, Agile2023 the Scotland Experience. This parallel 2-day event, held on July 24-25 in the historic and beautiful Edinburgh, Scotland, mirrored the energy and inspiration of the main event in Orlando. It was a fantastic opportunity for local and international Agilists to connect, share experiences, and learn from each other in a uniquely Scottish setting.

For more information about the Scotland Hub, see the Agile2023 Scotland event page.

Coming in 2024

XP 2023 in Amsterdam

Reflecting on our journey this past year, one of the highlights was undoubtedly XP 2023, held from June 13-16 in the picturesque city of Amsterdam, The Netherlands. This premier event in the Agile software development world uniquely bridges the gap between research and practice. XP 2023 served as a vibrant forum where Agile researchers, practitioners, thought leaders, coaches, and trainers converged to share their latest innovations and research findings.

XP 2024 from Bolzano, Italy, will no doubt be just as exciting. You can find more information about that on the XP 2024 page.

Agile en Chile

2023 was the inaugural year for Agile en Chile 2023 and, without a doubt a great opportunity for the Chilean and international Agile community to meet again, connect, and continue growing. 2023 was also the year in which we met again online with hundreds of Agilists from all over Latin America in the third edition of Agile en Español. Este 2023 fue el año inaugural para la conferencia presencial Agile en Chile 2023 y sin duda una gran oportunidad para la comunidad Agil chilena e internacional para reencontrarse, conectarse y seguir creciendo. In 2023, we held a quite popular “Agile Basics” MiniCon and a very well-received Agile MiniCon on “The Future of AI in Agile.

Agile Basics

Due to the popularity of the Agile Basics MiniCon, we created a regular twice-annual online event titled Agile Basics. We’ve got more coming in 2024, so be sure to keep up with our newsletter to be notified of future events.

Agile Online

Because of Agile Alliance’s history as host to THE biggest and best Agile conference in the world, we attract lots and lots of super interesting speakers interested in giving back to the Agile community through exciting and informative sessions. To help us take advantage of this, we’ve created the Agile Online series, which allows us to spread our wings in any direction that suits our fancy. Recently, we’ve done that with sessions such as User Story Magic Formula, A Little Knowledge is a Dangerous Thing, and Improving Visibility with Dual-Track.

Agile en Español

In addition to our in-person Agile en Chile event mentioned above, we also held Agile en Español. Learn more about all our Agile en Español events here.

Agile Coaching Network

Co-sponsored by Agile Alliance, the Agile Coaching Network (ACN) is a monthly live webcast and podcast scheduled for the last Friday of each month. This past year saw a lot of activity in our initiative program, including the creation of the brand-new Agile Sustainability Initiative. From the creation of the Agile Sustainability Manifesto to the launch of a new annual online event titled The State of Sustainability in Agile, the initiative team has been hard at work ramping up efforts to integrate sustainability into the core of Agile practices.

Community blog posts

A new updated website

Last but certainly not least, if you’ve been with us for a while, you’ve probably noticed that we upgraded our website in 2023. The Agile Alliance website has been completely revamped under the hood to ensure that the site framework has been modernized while laying the foundation for new features and additions to our resource content. Another important aspect that we addressed with the new site build was to make our content more accessible with inclusive design – the site is now easier to read, especially for long-form content. We also added a more robust and complete events calendar, a better search system, an easier-to-navigate menu system, and an improved mobile experience.
