Abstract/Description

We all hold within us the capacity to be involved, and to lead – and we do not have the time to wait to be asked to do so. In this talk, Bushra addresses the stigma that leadership is something thought of as larger than ourselves, helping participants find their own voice.

When Bushra chose to run for office at barely 19 years old, empowering youth voices was a foreign concept. In this session you will hear from Bushra about tangible ways one can become an “everyday leader” and influence their own networks. She will share her lessons learned as a young person breaking into politics, rooted around mentorship, networking and not being afraid to ask for things.

Participants will walk away from this session with a sense of how to develop their personal brand and messaging to incorporate leadership, truncate self-doubt, imposter syndrome and common excuses, and see the impact of social media and other tools to take control of the public facing narrative.
