Submissions

We invite proposals for engaging and experimental sessions oriented toward practitioners. More than presentations, we favor workshops, demonstrations, and interaction based on your experience and practice from working in the industry.

Example topics can be practices for collaboration, coaching, leading, meeting, communicating, and learning.

Sessions can be 30, 60, or 90 minutes, and we have room for half-day in-depth workshops or tutorials. Please excite and surprise us!

The submission should contain the following information:

  • Type and length:
    • Session: 30, 60, or 90 min, or
    • Tutorial/workshop: half day
  • Abstract: Explain the general topic and highlight the concepts the session is going to cover.
  • Learning outcomes: 1-3 reasons why a participant should choose this particular session and what would be the lessons learned.
  • Process / Mechanics: Rough agenda for the session, session style (lecture, interactive, demo)
  • Target Audience: (e.g. developers, managers, …)
  • Prerequisites required of attendees: (e.g. basic knowledge in …, familiarity with …, … )
  • Level: introductory, practicing, expert
  • Short biography of the speaker(s)
  • And of course, you can also provide any additional information for the pc that helps decide for your submission.

Note that besides an abstract, you should upload a pdf in the submission system.

Based on the review comments and with the objective of creating a great conference program, final selections will be made by the program chairs.

Review Process

Submissions will only be accepted via EasyChair.

Proposals are evaluated on:

  • Relevancy for and inspiration of the participants’ learning
  • Grounded in the proposers’ experience
  • Clear and convincing. Note during the submission phase it competes with other proposals, so convince us of its importance
  • Engaging and involving. Tell us how you make it interesting, attractive, and maybe even entertaining for the participants
  • Novelty
  • Clarity and practicality of the session structure
  • Preferably supporting the conference’s theme: Agile in the New Hybrid World – and tell us how it is related.

People submitting a proposal will be expected to review and provide feedback on 2-3 other proposals, which will be assigned as part of the review process.

Participation

As the conference is organized as an in-person event (taking into account possible Covid-19 restrictions), please plan your session to be suitable for face-to-face interaction and prepare to participate in the conference in person in Copenhagen.

The XP conference is a non-profit community event among agile practitioners and researchers organized by volunteers and supported by the Agile Alliance. Usually, a large majority of the XP participants are also speakers and contributors to the conference. Therefore, all participants will pay the conference participation fee to cover the costs of the event. As an appreciation of your effort, the accepted speakers from this track will receive a small reduction from the participation fee.
