Games and Facilitation Techniques

Our theme for this year is on Gamification and Facilitation Techniques for cultivating and fostering Innovation, Collaboration, Hyper-Productivity, Employee Engagement, Agile Adoption/Transformation/Sustenance, Continuous Improvement, Actionable Retrospection, Purposeful Reporting especially in a remote setting.

With this track, we want to provide an immersive exploration of serious games & facilitation techniques at work from home. Games are activities focused on teaching, demonstrating, and improving organizational Productivity, Agility, and Effectiveness through fun activities and simulations.

We are looking to support folks who are new speakers. If this is you, feel free to submit, but also reach out to the track chairs (Deepti Jain & Jutta Eckstein) if you are interested in coaching and/or mentorship. Sessions can be 30, 60, or 90 minutes.

Topics of Interest

Gamification helps people cut loose their inhibitions and open up to new ideas. It increases their receptiveness and engagement. Another by-product of Gamification is Happiness, Unlearning, Unwinding, and Innovation.

Example topics of interest are, but not limited to:

  • Games or Activities to help participants learn concepts
  • Ice-breakers to engage the audience
  • Warm up or an Energizer to raise the level of energy or get their attention back
  • Facilitation techniques that you can use in your daily work
  • Team building exercises that fosters collaboration and self organization
  • Game design sessions where you invent a new game to teach something new
  • Coaching techniques
  • Visual facilitation, involving sketching and doodling
  • Fun and energetic time with dancing, singing or being silly together

As a by-product, you will see a tremendous improvement in your facilitation and communication skills, and your ability to accompany change in your organization. It will also foster your creativity and improve your capacity to innovate.

Submissions

We invite proposals for engaging and experimental sessions oriented towards practitioners. More than presentations, we favour workshops, demonstrations, and interaction based on your experience and practice from working from home.

Sessions can be 30, 60 minutes, or 90 minutes. Please excite and surprise us with your ideas!

Proposals are evaluated on these criteria:

  • Grounded in the proposers’ experiences.
  • Fit with conference theme
  • Clarity and practicality of concept
  • Engaging and involving
  • Novelty

Based on the review comments and with the objective of creating a great conference program, final selections will be made by the program committee.

Review Process

Submissions will only be accepted via the Agile Alliance submission system (see the submission link below). Ensure your submission is:

  • Relevant and inspires the participants learning
  • Clear and convincing. (Note during the submission phase it competes with other proposals, so convince us of its importance.)
  • Tell us how you’ll make it interesting, attractive, and maybe even entertaining for the participants.

People submitting a proposal will be expected to review other proposals.
