The 3rd International Workshop on Software-Intensive Business: Unleashing the Business Potential of Software  (IWSiB 2020)

Software producing organizations face the challenges of changing demands, rapidly evolving technology, and a dynamic ecosystem in which their products and services need to operate. The International Workshop on Software-intensive Business: Unleashing the business potential of Software (IWSiB) brings together communities working on software-intensive business research and bridges the gap between software engineering and business research. The workshop supports the development of a research agenda for the emerging area of software-intensive business, maps challenges and best practices in the industry, and proposes new avenues for business-oriented software engineering research and practice.

Topics of Interest

IWSiB seeks submissions describing novel research, experience reports, as well as emerging ideas. We are interested in studies describing original and unpublished results in the field of software-intensive business. The focus of the workshop is on new promising ideas and therefore work-in-progress reports are welcome to ignite discussion in the workshop.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited, to the following aspects of software-intensive business:

  • Business-oriented software development practices
  • Business practices in software development
  • Software product management
  • Software development practices in software startups
  • Business models of software startups
  • Business aspects of continuous, agile and lean development
  • Organizational practices in software businesses
  • Software engineering economics
  • Interweaving product and business development
  • Software ecosystem and platform architectures, evolution and lifecycle
  • Ecosystem and platform orchestration and governance
  • API economy solutions and challenges
  • Observations of software industry and its trends
  • Impact of new technological and business model trends on software-intensive businesses

Submissions will be first screened on rigor and relevance and then evaluated by at least three members of the program committee based on soundness, significance, novelty, verifiability, and presentation quality.

Submission Guidelines

We encourage submissions of contributions describing different stages of research, from position papers to full research reports. We welcome both research and industry papers.

There are two paper categories:

  • 7-page full research workshop papers; and
  • 4-page short research workshop position papers or industrial experience reports.

Both types of papers will be published in the post-conference proceedings, which will be archived by Springer as open access.

All submissions must conform to the LNBIP formatting. See the instructions for authors here.

Papers must be submitted electronically via EasyChair.
