XP 2019 — 20th International Conference on Agile Software and Systems Development
An Agile Alliance Event
May 21-25 – Montréal, Québec, Canada
Note: The Leadership Symposium is an add-on to the regular XP conference
XP, the International Conference on Agile Software Development, is the premier agile software development conference, providing a unique forum where researchers, practitioners, agile thought leaders, coaches, and trainers present and discuss their most recent innovations, research results, experiences, trends and concerns in the field of Agile Software Development. XP2019 marks the 20th edition of the “First Conference in Agile”. Whether you are new to agile, a seasoned practitioner, an executive, or a researcher – XP will provide you with a broad-based learning and networking experience. The theme for XP2019 will be “Agile – the Next 20 Years: Share and Discover!”
Agile continues to advance – and the focus of the XP conference program has expanded over the years. While the first XP conference focused on eXtreme Programming and pre-dated the “Agile Manifesto” – XP2019 solicits contributions that address all modern agile approaches, as well as the application of agile to applications including but not limited to: DevOps, FinTech, AI/ML, IoT, Data & Analytics and other mission critical systems with global reach.
The XP 2019 conference will be in downtown Montréal at the École de technologie supérieure, an engineering school part of the Université du Québec network. A renowned metropolis in the province of Québec that is among the largest cities in North America, Montréal is home to multiple and diverse attractions. In addition to the large Francophone population, there is also a sizable Anglophone community and many cultural communities, which gives the city a cosmopolitan flair. Boasting a human dimension in a city where everyone feels safe, Montréal features vibrant neighbourhoods and numerous green spaces, along with restaurants to suit every taste and budget.
The XP 2019 Leadership Symposium is a new offering for the XP 2019 conference, which originated from the Executives and Managers track. The XP 2019 Leadership Symposium will run on Saturday, May 25, 2019.
The XP 2019 Leadership Symposium is a forum for existing and aspiring agile technology leaders and experts to showcase exemplary case studies, intellectual capital, frameworks and methods use to lead technical agile initiatives. An example of a great talk will be a firsthand description of a new or novel leadership stance, model, framework, technology, challenges faced, approaches taken, observations and reflections. We invite you to submit a proposal that describes in more detail your original, unpublished experience related to agile and lean technical leadership. The sessions will be oriented toward existing and aspiring leaders, technical experts and welcoming to interested academics.
Proposals are submitted electronically via the Agile Alliance submission system by the defined deadlines. You do not need to upload a full paper as part of your initial submission but you are encouraged to write an extensive abstract and submit a detailed proposal sharing highlights of your experience and what you intend to focus on. We encourage you to give us enough information so we can make an informed decision and ask you clarifying questions. There will be an opportunity for reviewers to ask questions and for submitters to revise their proposals before selections are made.
Those who submit early (before the December 08 deadline) and who provide us with timely answers to our questions are likely to receive the greatest level of assistance. Those who submit proposals well before the deadline are more likely to receive feedback than those who wait until the last minute.
Consider these areas if you are looking for ideas to present for the Leadership Symposium. Topics of particular interest to the conference include, but are not limited to the following:
All dates are defined as AoE (Anywhere on Earth).
