20 Years of Women in Agile

Agile Alliance was delighted to partner with Agile Testing Days in presenting this panel of amazing Agile women to celebrate Agile’s 20th anniversary and explore how women have contributed to the movement.  Janet Gregory and Ellen Grove facilitated a panel that featured Linda Rising, Esther Derby, Ash Coleman, and Rebecca Wirfs-Brock sharing their Agile stories.

The conversation covers a wide range of topics, including:

• the early days of trying to bring more humanity into software development
• how the Y2K problem reinforced the need to work iteratively and incrementally despite a fixed deadline
• the criticality of creating inclusive spaces
• how the pandemic has put additional burdens on women in tech
• opportunities for community and connection created by moving everything online
• hopes for the future of Agile work

Given the enthusiasm and appreciation expressed by the 450 people who attended the February session, plans are already in the works for another panel at the end of March.  Watch the Agile Alliance Events listing for an announcement.
