In 2009 Fidelity initiated a process transformation initiative that included the introduction of an agile methodology. Although an agile approach to software development had at that time been piloted within several Fidelity organizations, incorporating user experience design into the agile approach was new territory. Several opportunities were immediately identified such as how to best incorporate participatory design engagements with clients, or how/when usability testing can take place, or how to mitigate the risk of making significant changes to the information architecture late in the game. This presentation will examine the practice of user experience design in the context of agile, and discuss the challenges and corresponding solutions that have enabled Fidelity to implement a successful agile framework as one of our solution delivery models.
