Samuel Crescêncio's Position Statement

Samuel Crecêncio, Brazil, OnCast’s founder and CEO, Software Engineer, Scrum Master and Coach. URL: www.oncast.com.br

I’ve been working with an agile-mind-set since 2003 when I discovered this new approach and decided to try it. Before that, I had personally worked on several projects for 9 years. A few of them didn’t succeed due to problems caused by the traditional approaches. I’ve engaged in new and successful projects using agile and infecting people around me with this mind-set. The result: after some local projects, I managed to convince the best engineers that I knew by then to join me in a challenging off-shore project developed in three countries. Once again, we were so successful that it motivated us to create a company utterly dedicated to agile development. Our company is called OnCast Technologies and our slogan is Agile Solutions. Big software companies with more than 1000 employees are turning their attention to our small start-up company. The reason: they want to learn how we develop software.

Currently, my contributions to the agile community are giving voluntary speeches in local conferences, such as the local event “Sun Tech Days” , where I participated in the last two years as a speaker. I’ve also written an article which is hopefully the first one of various that I want to write. Besides that, I’m also contributing to the development of the agile world with open source software. OnCast has been sponsoring the development of a brand new tool for the testing and monitoring of performance. Such tool is specially designed for iteratively and incrementally developed software in agile environments. With it, apart from testing performance, architects and engineers can monitor the evolution of performance along the time-line of the project. Our tool, that is called – LOBO, Continuous Tuning – is already released, just check it out. Therefore, with a position on the board, I expect to help increasing the agile community in Brazil, and to hopefully bring international agile conferences to Florianópolis, Brazil.
