About the Certified Product Owner Course

Certified Scrum Product OwnerScrum is a simple, empirically based framework that has wide ranging implications. Key to the success of Scrum is the role of the Product Owner. The Product Owner is responsible for a project’s Return on Investment (ROI), guiding the Scrum team, and representing Customers as well as Business and Development staff. Strong Product Ownership is key to successful Scrum transformations.

Learn the essentials of working as a Scrum Alliance Certified Product Owner (CSPO) in this two-day class. Danube’s CSPO equips participants with the knowledge of Scrum principles and practices necessary to succeed in this new paradigm. Participants can expect to learn how to establish and maintain a backlog and write stories with clear acceptance criteria. We will also discuss real-world organizational challenges such as managing distributed teams, managing large or multiple projects, release planning, and metrics.

Certified ScrumMaster Course

In this two-day course, you will apply the Scrum framework to build a new product. You will learn what it feels like to be on a Scrum team—experiencing many of the challenges you’re likely to face—while being coached by someone involved with the application of Scrum at many organizations. This “learning by doing” style of instruction demands your open mind and active participation.

We will apply the experiential activities to discussion of advanced topics such as how to use Scrum in multiple-team organizations, how to measure progress empirically at a macro level, release planning to maximize ROI, and why such a simple framework disrupts organizations to be the best they can be.

The CSM course will cover the following topics (among others) through two days of interactive exercises, lecture, and discussion:

Successful completion of a two-day ScrumMaster Certification course, taught by a Certified Scrum Trainer, is a requisite for taking the Certified ScrumMaster exam. Upon completion of the course, attendees are eligible to take the exam, the successful completion of which results in the designation of “Certified ScrumMaster” from the Scrum Alliance.

Learn the Scrum framework for an agile project and the essentials of working as a ScrumMaster or Scrum team member. Through a fun mix of theoretical explanation, problem exploration and practical exercises, this 2–day course will equip attendees for their first Scrum project or enable them to reflect on their projects and become more agile.

Attendees will learn, through doing and questioning, about Scrum concepts and artefacts such as the Product Backlog, release planning, Sprint planning, the Daily Scrum and burndown charts. They will also learn that, despite being a simple framework, it is deceptively simple in that Scrum requires discipline and hard work to be effective.

Each aspect of the Scrum framework is explained in terms of its principles, its relation to the rest of the framework and is supplemented with stories of real–life examples while also giving the attendees the opportunity to explore the concepts in fun, practical case–studies.

Questions and conversations are encouraged throughout and there is also a dedicated Q&A session to explore the concerns and practical queries of the attendees which helps to put the learning in to context.

As Certified Scrum Trainers we are approved by the Scrum Alliance and have had experience of Scrum implementations small, medium and large, coming up against and resolving many barriers to Scrum along the way.

NDC2010, Norwegian Developers Conference

Despite the recession and economic uncertainty, the Norwegian Developers Conference 2009 was an unqualified success, with more than 1,000 participants and a range of Partners from leading IT companies. We are now about to repeat the success by organising NDC2010.

Leaders in the field

Again in 2010, participants will be able to learn from the leaders in the field, including Juval Lowy, Roy Osherove, Robert C. Martin, Lisa Crsipin and Mike Cohn. They will be demonstrating how to realise projects in the most agile way possible.

Norwegian developers are already well–respected for their abilities, and the aim of the conference is to stimulate the environment in Norway even further, so that Norwegian developers can maintain and enhance their sound position. Norway’s largest agile program development conference

NDC is Norway’s largest conference dedicated to agile program development on the Microsoft platform. Along with ProgramUtvikling, Microsoft Norge AS is also supporting the conference and doing its bit to make the event a real boost for developers in the industry.

Access to new technology

Over many years, Microsoft has been focused on giving developers access to the latest technology – as demonstrated at NDC 2008 and 2009. For 2010, it has been decided that, as before, the conference should feature six different specialist tracks, each including a series of relevant talks.

This is a two day course, featuring both presentation and hands-on exercises. We will start the class with a methodology discussion, including a review of the existing processes (Agile, Waterfall, or “something in between”) and how the tools from this course can integrate into attendee projects.

Drive Product Increments Faster – Master Release Planning – Adapt and Succeed Overview This intense interactive training workshop focuses on Scrum’s Product Owner role, which focuses on visioning, roadmapping, and user stories. Scrum is a proven lean and agile approach to delivering results, a simple “inspect and adapt” framework used to organize work for maximum efficiency and effectiveness using three roles, three ceremonies, and three artifacts wherein stories express requirements and tasks express work. While the Product Owner role is conceptually simple and involves a few guidelines, the role emphasizes a particular mindset. Many product owners enact the role, but don’t readily internalize the mindset, and thus don’t experience the benefits of the role. This workshop not only provides participants with the skills for creating compelling visions, actionable roadmaps, and useful requirements using agile techniques, but it also gives participants practical hands-on experience applying these techniques throughout the workshop. Participants will be introduced to agility and create a vision, roadmap, and work with user roles, user stories, and acceptance tests. This is not mere presentation-based training but a workshop using experiential learning (learning by doing, including robust simulations and discussions). It is facilitated by active practitioners / coachs with decades of real-world industry experience, which is used to highlight and expose participants to many common pitfalls.
